Avs’ Johnson can relate to D.T.
Demaryius Thomas will be pulling off a rare NFL feat on Sunday when he debuts with his new team (Texans) against his old one. One Denver athlete who can relate to Thomas’ expected whirl of emotions is Avalanche defenseman Erik Johnson.
Johnson, the No. 1 overall pick of the 2006 NHL Draft by St. Louis, was traded to Colorado on Feb. 19, 2011. Three days later, in his second game with the Avs, Johnson played against the Blues in St. Louis. He scored a goal in a 4-3 Avalanche win.
