Did the Avalanche make the right move by trading Ryan O'Reilly?
Former Avalanche center Ryan O'Reilly regrets not having a bigger leadership role in Colorado. He was the Avs' reigning scorer leader in 2012 when the younger Gabe Landeskog was named captain as O'Reilly's first contract negotiation became contentious.
"I wasn't really looked at as much of a leader," O'Reilly said during a conference call with Buffalo media Monday.
The Avs traded O'Reilly to Buffalo during the NHL draft Friday after contract extension negotiations broke off.
"With the Sabres," he said, "I have to be a more vocal guy, be that more off-ice leader and on ice as well.
