Carrasco's 2nd straight 8-IP outing not enough

Mariners left-hander Ariel Miranda did not allow a hit until the fourth, when Jose Ramirez hit a one-out homer. He struck out seven and surrendered two hits in 5 1/3 strong innings.

Seattle held a 2-1 lead when reigning International League MVP Gamel cleared the wall just inside the right-field foul pole. It was his first homer of the season and was part of a 2-for-4 evening.

Edwin Diaz retired the final four batters, striking out three, for his fourth save. Mariners pitchers struck out a season-high 14 as James Pazos had four in relief of Miranda.
