Clevelinks: Santana Lineup Controversy; Cleveland Indians Take on Pirates

This season has been a bit of a struggle for Carlos Santana. Nearly all his statistics have worsened this year, with essentially only his defense and base running improving. Although his .211 batting average is dreadfully low, his on-base percentage, which is a better indicator of a player’s value, sits at an above average .347.

Given his diminished power and low base running skills, many fans have argued as to where Santana should bat in the lineup. His on-base skills point towards a spot in the top of the order, but his weak base running and power potential suggest a home lower in the lineup.
