Larry O’Brien trophy takes a spin on the Goodyear blimp — a first for both

The Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy’s victory tour across Northeast Ohio reached a new high on Monday.

The trophy along with Cavs General Manager David Griffin took a ride on the Goodyear Blimp for a Larry Bird’s eye view of LeBron James’ birthplace.

Goodyear released photos and a video showing the shiny trophy carefully seatbelted into a prime window seat right behind the blimp’s pilot as the airship made its way in and around the skies over Akron.

This mark’s the first time the iconic airship has taken a sports championship trophy on a flight.

The Larry O’Brien Trophy has been on a whirlwind tour since the Cavs beat the Warriors in Game 7 of the NBA Championships in mid June.
