Cleveland Cavs: Cavs help plant 160 trees in Akron

In today's look into the world of the Cleveland Cavs, Cavs guard Carrick Felix joined members of the team's coaching staff, front office, and promotions department in planting the first 160 trees at Akron’s Leggett Community Learning Center, along with at neighboring Jennings Community Learning Center.

According to the official NBA.com press release, "dozens gathered together to help plant pear, redbud and dogwood trees around the schools, including volunteers from the Cavaliers, Canton Charge and PwC, as well as students, faculty and staff from Leggett and Jennings Community Learning Centers."

This was all a part of the "Trees For Threes" program, where the Cleveland Cavs along with the Cleveland office of PwC pledged to plant one tree for every three-point shot made by the Cavs during a home game.

“I am grateful to PWC, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Pettiti Garden Center for their generous contribution to the City of Akron,” said Akron mayor Don Plusquellic. “These trees are not only gorgeous, but will also contribute to the tree canopy density, which will support the City’s CSO program and any Integrated Plan. Also, the trees planted at Boss Park will provide buffering from a construction yard, as well as screen adjacent residential from park activities. This is just great news to be able to announce on Arbor Day for our City.”
