Those are questions Mike Pettine has no doubt pondered since he demoted Manziel from starting quarterback to third team last week.
Pettine’s decision came after Manziel spent the bye weekend doing what he promised he would not do, and after he lied to the coaches about it.
The question is what to do now. Is it wiser for the team to keep Manziel inactive for the foreseeable future to reinforce the message they sent with the demotion, or is the public message enough?
