Browns QB Johnny Manziel aims to show progress vs. Bengals, who humiliated him last year: ‘I feel much more confident’

The first NFL start of Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel was thoroughly wrecked last season by the Cincinnati Bengals.

They thrashed the Browns 30-0 on Dec. 14 at FirstEnergy Stadium, buried Cleveland’s slim playoff hopes and rubbed it in by humiliating Manziel after he had replaced a slumping Brian Hoyer.

Linebacker Rey Maualuga and defensive end Wallace Gilberry taunted Manziel by flashing his old “money sign” hand gesture after making big plays. Heck, Bengals coach Marvin Lewis even took a shot at the 5-foot-11 3/4 Manziel by referring to him as “a midget” three days before the game during an interview with a Cincinnati radio station.
