ACC is no longer looking for respect

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — It seems the long term perception of the ACC not being as elite as other leagues is starting to fade away.

With Florida State winning the National Championship in 2013 and Clemson making its appearance in last season’s title game, it’s been hard to overlook the league and it’s talented players and coaches.

“We’ve got some great (players) in our league. There’s no doubt about it. I mean, they’ll match up with anybody in the country, they really will,” said North Carolina coach Larry Fedora.

The ACC is one of just two conferences nationally to have a team play for the national championship in two of the last three years, and to be selected to either the BCS title game or the College Football Playoff in each each of the last three years.
