The Reds begin the final leg of their three-city, 10-game road trip tonight in Atlanta against the Braves. It’s the Reds’ first look at the Braves’ new SunTrust Field, which is unique among new stadium projects. Not only do the Braves own the stadium, they own the land around the stadium, and are serving as real estate brokers for the commercial and residential development occurring nearby.
Imagine if the Reds owned the Banks and all of the developments in that area. That’s basically what you have in Atlanta, as the Braves have become a real estate development company as well as a baseball franchise.
