When Hunter Greene and Marcus Stroman match up at Great American Ball Park on Wednesday, it’ll pit two Opening Day starters, two guys who worked out with each other in a previous offseason and two people committed to growing the sport.
Greene and Stroman represent two of Major League Baseball’s five active Black starting pitchers, a number that dropped with recent retirements and a few pitchers beginning the season on the injured list.
“We realize there is not many of us and we want to see more of us,” Stroman said. “It’s important for us to always to be ourselves and be authentic.
