Garrett pleased with spring despite rough final outing

MESA, Ariz. -- Prospect Amir Garrett didn't have his strongest performance in Saturday's 11-6 split-squad win over the A's in his final bid to make the Reds' big league rotation. But Garrett was satisfied with his body of work and that he did all he could.

Garrett did not figure in the decision on Saturday, as he allowed six earned runs on seven hits over five innings with three walks, four strikeouts and a wild pitch. The left-hander blew a five-run second-inning lead, in part on Matt Joyce's third-inning solo homer and a three-run fifth inning that included back-to-back walks.
