Fire Sign Fabian Herbers From Philadelphia

With contract options for Michael de Leeuw, Yura Movsisyan and Luis Solignac declined for next season as part of the big annual Rosterpocalypse, the Chicago Fire needed some backup for the forward line. On Sunday, the Fire announced a deal with the Philadelphia Union to acquire 25-year-old Fabian Herbers in exchange for second-round pick for the upcoming 2019 MLS SuperDraft.

Herbers is contracted through the 2019 season with an option for 2020. He will not occupy an international slot for the team as he received his US Green Card last year.
