Chicago Fire Fall 3-2 on the Road at Sporting KC

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (July 29, 2017) – The Chicago Fire (11-5-5, 38 points) fell 3-2 to Sporting Kansas City (9-4-9, 36 points) at Children’s Mercy Park on Saturday evening.

The hosts opened scoring in the 23rd minute when Daniel Salloi led the quick counter attack and raced down the Fire’s right flank. Salloi’s shot took a fortuitous deflection off Bastian Schweinsteiger and into goal.

Five minutes later the Fire equalized when a Matt Polster whipped a cross into the box. Sporting KC captain Matt Besler attempted to clear the ball but accidentally redirected it into his own net.
