Will the real Javy Baez please step up to the plate?

The playoff hero and media darling has been reduced to Infield Jason Heyward through the first five games of the World Series. He’s irreplaceable on defense and irredeemable on offense.

Baez slashed .375/.412/.563 in the National League Division Series and .318/.333/.500 in the NLCS. Through five games in the World Series, he’s at .143/.143/.143. Now that’s consistency.

The exciting infielder is 3-for-21 with nine strikeouts in 21 plate appearances in the World Series. That’s one more strikeout than he had in 41 plate appearances the first two rounds.
