Fan Safety-How Much is Too Much?

The only spectator to die as a result of being hit by an object at a game was 14-year-old Alan Fish after being hit in the left temple at Dodger Stadium in 1970. That is hard to believe, considering how many times injuries occur over the course of a season. In fact, the number is well over 1700 incidents each year.

The most serious accident last year took place at Fenway in June. Tonya Carpenter was in the wrong place at the wrong time, when a huge chunk off of Oakland Athletics Brett Lawrie’s bat struck her in the back of the head.
