Darvish ramps up rehab, throws sim game

KANSAS CITY -- Yu Darvish threw about 31 pitches over two "innings" in a sim game on Wednesday at Kauffman Stadium, another step in the rehab process for the Cubs right-hander.

Darvish, who has not pitched in a game for the Cubs since May 20 because of right triceps tendinitis, faced batters Victor Caratini and Tommy La Stella. Manager Joe Maddon, pitching coach Jim Hickey, the Cubs' medical staff and even teammate Cole Hamels came out to watch.

La Stella fouled a ball off his right leg and fell to the ground at the beginning of the second "inning," and he had to be helped out of the cage.
