Cubs 7, Braves 1: Javier Assad does it again AND the offense wakes up!

The Cubs needed two things in the series finale in Atlanta to avoid being swept:

  • Another good starting pitcher outing, and
  • Some runs

They got both, as Javier Assad threw six more shutout innings and the offense generated 13 hits, including home runs from Mike Tauchman and Seiya Suzuki, and the Cubs took the series finale from the Braves in convincing fashion, 7-1. 44 games into the 2024 season, the Cubs still have not lost more than two in a row.

After not scoring for 18 straight innings to begin the series, the Cubs’ scoreless streak ended quickly.
