The Iowa Cubs split a doubleheader with the New Orleans Baby Cakes (Marlins), losing game one 7-0 and taking game 2 5-2 in game that was shortened to 4 1⁄2 innings because of rain.
Iowa lost their fifth-straight game in game one as starter Matt Swarmer had troubles keeping the ball in the yard. Swarmer allowed seven runs on 12 hits over 5.2 innings. Three of those hits were home runs. Swarmer did strike out eight and did not walk anyone, so that’s one positive thing.
