Earlier this week, Chicago native and ESPN personality Michael Wilbon wrote an article for the new website The Undefeated the other day about what he sees as the problem of analytics (or what he thinks the word “analytics” means) in basketball.
If you have followed my work here covering the Bulls (or previously at Blog a Bull), you can probably guess where I stand on Wilbon’s article. But you may be surprised at why.
Wilbon’s take on analytics is short-sighted. There are also some important racial themes he covers in the first half of his story that have received heavy criticism.
