Bulls Rumors: Derrick Rose works out for Melo, helps free agency pitch

In an interesting tidbit from the world of Bulls rumors and news today, Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose worked out in front of New York Knicks free agent Carmelo Anthony on Tuesday in order to prove that his health is not in question going forward.

According to Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders, "while Rose had went on the record saying that he wasn’t going recruit Anthony to Chicago, he was very involved in the team’s courtship of the superstar free agent, according to sources close to the situation. While at the [team's new practice] facility, sources say that Rose went through a private workout to show Anthony that he’s healthy and ready to compete at a high level next season."

The Bulls' pitch is said to have centered about the fact that the Bulls could become instant championship contenders with Rose, Melo, Joakim Noah, and Taj Gibson on the court and playing under the guidance of head coach Tom Thibodeau.

Per Kennedy, after a star-studded dinner attended by all the aforementioned players and coaches, Jerry Reinsdorf, Gar Forman, and Scottie Pippen, the Bulls are said to be "very confident that Anthony is seriously considering signing with Chicago, according to sources close to the situation." (Added note, according to Kennedy: "Rose wasn’t at the dinner, as previously reported. He left the group earlier in the day, but did interact with Anthony at the arena before and after his workout.")
