NHL releases statement closing its investigation into Patrick Kane allegations

The NHL released a statement regarding its independent investigation into allegations of sexual assault against Patrick Kane on Wednesday. The league says it completed its investigation and "considers the matter closed."

Kane met with commissioner Gary Bettman on Monday as part of the investigation, according to the league's statement. The NHL "concluded that the allegations made against Kane were unfounded." In November, the Erie County District Attorney's Office declined to pursue charges after its investigation into the allegations, which were made in August.

The National Hockey League announced today that it has completed its independent review of the Patrick Kane matter, the final stage of which included an in-person meeting between Kane and Commissioner Gary Bettman in New York on Monday, March 7.
