Former Blackhawk Viktor Svedberg to join Flames on professional tryout contract, per report

Swedish defenseman Viktor Svedberg will look for another shot in the NHL with the Calgary Flames on a professional tryout contract, reports Ronnie Rönnkvist of hockeysverige.se.

Svedberg, 27, last played for the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2015-16 NHL season. He tallied two goals and two assists in four games in 27 games. Since then the 6-foot-8, 243-pound blueliner has suited up for the Rockford IceHogs in the AHL. Svedberg has recorded eight goals and 35 points in 124 AHL games the past two seasons for Rockford. He was also an alternate captain for the IceHogs this past season before he became an unrestricted free agent.
