The 1985-86 Chicago Bears may be one of the best examples of why the preseason won’t tell you how a team is going to do in the regular season. The Chicago Bears had one of the best teams in league history and won the Super Bowl. But their start was not a good one. They ended their preseason with a record of 1-3 and looked a shaky heading into the 1985 regular season.

Chicago’s first loss came in a close 10-3 contest against the then St. Louis Rams. The Rams ended the 1985 season in good shape and met the Bears in the playoffs.
