Chelsea announce revamped shirt numbers for the new campaign as they make significant decision on the No 9... with Raheem Sterling handed No 7 after wearing 17 last season

Chelsea have revealed their shirt numbers for the new season, including a major decision on the No 9 shirt.

The No 9 shirt has been described as 'cursed' at Stamford Bridge in recent seasons, with the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Romelu Lukaku, Gonzalo Higuain, Alvaro Morata and Falcao taking on the iconic number.

While Tammy Abraham impressed for a short period at Chelsea, their last truly great No 9 was Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink - who left the club in 2004.

A number of players could have taken on the number this season including new signings Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson.
