N. Carolina’s Controversial ‘Anti-LGBT’ Law Could Cause the Charlotte Hornets the All-Star Game

The Charlotte Hornets have recently released a team statement that shows their stance against discrimination and towards North Carolina’s Anti-LGBT law. There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the law and how it may impact the 2017 NBA All-Star Game that will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina next season.

The Anti-LGBT law declares that “state law overrides all local ordinances concerning wages, employment and public accommodations. Thus, the law now bars local municipalities from creating their own rules prohibiting discrimination in public places based on sexual orientation and gender identity. Though North Carolina does have a statewide nondiscrimination law, it does not include specific protections for LGBTQ people.
