Charlotte Hornets draft Kentucky shooting guard Malik Monk

The Charlotte Hornets used the No. 11 overall pick in Thursday’s NBA draft to select Kentucky shooting guard Malik Monk.

Monk, 6-3, averaged 19.8 points in his only college season. He shot 45 percent from the field and 40 percent from the college 3-point line.

Monk is a prolific shooter-scorer. But he’s a bit undersized for an NBA shooting guard and that could make it a challenge initially to play him alongside point guard Kemba Walker, also smallish for his position at 6-1.
