Dallas, Texas – After crushing the old course record with a time of 14:40 at the Charlotte Opener last Friday, sophomore Nick Scudder received the Conference USA XC Male Athlete of the Week. He is the first 49er to win the award this 2021 season.
Scudder led the 49ers to a solid team performance, individually winning the Charlotte Opener. Scudder used a strong last mile to run away from a field that included multiple sub 14:00 5k runners, shattering the 5k course record by 22 seconds in a winning time of 14:40.
The 2020 Individual champion Nick Scudder had an 8k PR of 23:36.
