Charlotte 49ers quarterback Lee McNeill (Indian Trail, N.C.) was named as one of 14 recipients of Conference USA's Jim Castañeda Postgraduate Scholarship Awards.
McNeill, the 2016 Conference USA Scholar-Athlete of the Year in Football, was Charlotte's starting quarterback in its inaugural season at the FBS level in 2015. This past year, he was selected to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic all-District III team. One of nine players that played in all 46 games over the course of the 49ers first four years, he made nine starts at QB. He threw for 1,892 yards with eight touchdowns.
