NEW ORLEANS - In week three of the 2016 cross country season, the Charlotte 49ers men's team has jumped to 11th and the women's team and moved to 15th in the Southeast regional polls, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) announced on Monday.
Both squads were previously unranked, but have grabbed the attention of voters following back-to-back strong showings at the William & Mary Invitational and the University of Virginia's Lou Onesty Invitational. The men's team finished third and seventh at the two meets while the women's team finished second and ninth respectively despite large fields and tough competition.
