CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The 5ranked Charlotte 49ers men's soccer scored seconds into the first extra time period to defeat FIU 2-1 at Transamerica Field Saturday afternoon.
"It felt like it was deserved," head coach said. "Obviously we had to work really hard for it. It must be close to 100 degrees here today and not what we've been used to. It was like a battle scene at the end - players going down with cramps on both sides. For us to come through, we showed a lot of heart and good soccer."
The 49ers first goal scoring opportunity came through junior in the 25 minute.
