The Central Michigan soccer team defeated Miami (Oh) 1-0 in overtime in a rain-heavy 90-minute match. As the precipitation fell from beginning to finish, it made for a sloppy and slippery affair. Here are three takeaways from the Chippewas victory.

  1. Weather was the number one factor in the match. There were several opportunities for both teams that resulted in nothing due to the slippery conditions on the field. In the 18th minute, senior defenseman Taylor Potts had the first shot on goal for the Chippewas in the match. Miami goalkeeper Vic Maniaci made the save, but had the ball slip out of her hands, nearly resulting in the ball easing its way passed the line.
