MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan’s Tyler Hankins was named to the 2017 Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American Team.
Hankins, a 6-foot-9 left-hander who hails from Bartlett, Ill., went 6-1 with a 3.83 earned run average in 2017, earning the Mid-American Conference Freshman Pitcher of the Year Award. He was also named to the All-MAC Second Team.
The All-American team comprises 134 players representing Division I universities from across the nation. Hankins is the first Chippewa selected since 2015, when Sean Martens, Zach McKinstry and Daniel Jipping were so honored.
