CMU football hires Tony Coaxum as cornerbacks coach

Central Michigan football head coach John Bonamego went into the National Football League to find a new special teams coordinator and cornerbacks coach in Tony Coaxum.

The news was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg.

Most recently, Coaxum was an assistant special teams coach with the Denver Broncos. He was hired to coach in Denver in February 2015.

Prior to working for the Broncos, Coaxum was previously with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New York Giants and Baltimore Ravens.

Coaxum, in his playing days, was a cornerback for Army. Following his time on the field, the 41-year-old moved on as an assistant coach for the Black Nights from 2007 to 2013.
