Run on corners: Panthers get 'best playmaker in the draft' in Oklahoma's Zack Sanchez

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Carolina Panthers obviously are stock-piling cornerbacks in an attempt to find a replacement for Pro Bowler Josh Norman.

Here are a few thoughts on Carolina’s fifth-round pick, Oklahoma cornerback Zack Sanchez, the third straight corner selected by the Panthers:

My take: General manager Dave Gettleman said on Friday that the decision to rescind the franchise tag on Norman, now with the Washington Redskins, impacted his draft strategy. No kidding. He selected Sanchez after taking Samford’s James Bradberry and West Virginia’s Daryl Worley in rounds two and three. Sanchez (5-11) is two inches shorter than the other two, and he might be a better fit at nickel behind Brandon Boykin.
