New Panthers safety Mike Adams has lower cap number than Tre Boston

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Here’s a closer look at the two-year deal the Carolina Panthers gave safety Mike Adams, who turns 36 on March 24:

Total value: $4.2 million

Signing bonus: $650,000

Total guaranteed: $1,150,000

Salary cap: $1,753,125 in 2017; $2,425,000 in 2018

What it means: Interestingly enough, Adams’ cap figure is less than that of Tre Boston ($1,939,367), the player he will replace in the starting lineup if all works out according to plan.
