Houston retires from NFL

Chris Houston has decided to retire from the NFL, the Carolina Panthers announced Tuesday.

The former Arkansas cornerback signed with the Panthers in June after sitting out the entire 2014 season to recover from toe surgery.

In seven seasons, Houston started 91 games and had 13 interceptions for the Atlanta Falcons and Detroit Lions. He returned those picks for 275 yards and three touchdowns.

He was a second-round pick by the Falcons in the 2007 NFL Draft and spent three seasons in Atlanta before playing four seasons in Detroit. His 225 interception return yards in 2011 led the NFL.
