The Carolina Hurricanes were unable to finish their five-game homestand on a positive note falling 3-1 to the Calgary Flames on Military Appreciation Day.
Victor Rask was able to start the scoring after converting on a cross-ice pass from Jeff Skinner on the powerplay giving Rask his 14th goal of the season. Eddie Lack also managed to make some nice saves giving the Hurricanes a 1-0 lead going to into the second period, his fifth straight period of shutout hockey.
About six minutes into the second period, Johnny Gaudreau found Micheal Ferland streaking down the ice for a breakaway.
