The Carolina Hurricanes have announced they have recalled forward Valentin Zykov and defenseman Jake Bean from Charlotte of the American Hockey League. Both players played in Sunday’s 3-1 victory over Laval.
This will be Jake Bean’s first NHL call-up. The defenseman has spent most of his rookie professional paired with Roland McKeown. Bean has shown flashes of being an NHL defenseman but will still need to work on his skating and adding additional weight to become a full time NHL-er.
Valentin Zykov has been effective offensively since being sent down to Charlotte for a conditioning stint.
