Charlotte Checkers sign Kris Newbury to a professional tryout contract

The Charlotte Checkers have signed veteran center Kris Newbury to a professional tryout contract. With many of Charlotte’s forwards recalled to Carolina, the move adds forward depth to a depleted corps. Newbury will join the Checkers on their upcoming six-game road trip.

Newbury has played in 75 games at the NHL level, recording 10 points, and 788 games at the AHL level, recording 567 points. He last played with the Bakersfield Condors (Edmonton Oilers affiliate) of the American Hockey League.
