Carolina Hurricanes Win Opening Game in Traverse City

The match up featured both of the United States goalies form this year’s World Junior Championships. Much like in World Junior camps, Alex Nedeljkovic of the Carolina Hurricanes outplayed Brandon Halverson of the New York Rangers.

Janne Kuokkanen opened up scoring for the Hurricanes at 8:40 in the first period. Kuokkanen was selected 43rd overall by the Hurricanes in the 2016 draft, and has wasted no time getting started.

The new New York Ranger, Jimmy Vesey, quickly showed why he was so highly sought after this offseason. In the second period he opened scoring for the Rangers and tied the game 1-1.
