Carolina Hurricanes to Pick 13th in the 2016 NHL Draft

The Carolina Hurricanes narrowly missed out on a playoff birth this past season, but they more than narrowly missed out on the first overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft.

In Saturday night’s 2016 NHL Draft Lottery, the Hurricanes had a 2% chance of ultimately capturing the first overall draft pick as the 13th seed. The ping pong balls didn’t fall in the club’s direction and they will hold on to their originally earned pick.

There were three separate lotteries held for the first time in NHL Draft history, each one giving the Hurricanes a 2% chance of victory.
