Winnipeg Jets win second straight game to start NHL season

NEWARK, N.J. - Balance is going to be extremely important for the Winnipeg Jets this season, but there times when the big guns are going to need to handle the bulk of the scoring.

Friday was one of those nights, as the Jets got second-period goals from Mark Scheifele, Blake Wheeler and Andrew Ladd and cruised to a 3-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils before a crowd of 14,579 at the Prudential Center.

“It seems like every time I score, (Wheeler) scores on the next shift,” said Scheifele. “We came out and didn't get frustrated. We knew they were going to play tight defence, but we stuck to our game plan and eventually popped a few in.
