The Detroit Red Wings avoided an arbitration hearing with goaltender Petr Mrazek on Wednesday.
Prior to the scheduled hearing, the Red Wings agreed to terms on a two-year deal with the 24-year-old Mrazek for a reported $8 million. The Czech-born Mrazek, who was a restricted free agent, will reportedly receive $3.85 million in 2016-17 and $4.15 million in 2017-18.
The deal is a compromise for both sides as the two parties had submitted figures to the arbitrator. Mrazek was looking for a two-year deal at $5 million per season. The Red Wings were offering $2.7 million in the first year and $3.
