Former Flames player Brendan Morrison says Canucks teammate Luc bourdon's death an emotional time

Brendan Morrison knows all too well about the heartache of losing a teammate.

Eight years ago Morrison and his Vancouver Canucks teammates learned during the off-season talented young defenceman Luc Bourdon had been killed in a motorcycle accident in late May.

And when Morrison heard Sunday about the shooting death of Stampeders player Mylan Hicks, it rekindled all sorts of painful memories.

“It definitely brings those thoughts back to mind,” said the retired 41-year-old who lives in Calgary, where he played two seasons.

“The situation in Calgary and what happened in Florida Sunday with their pitcher — every time something like that happens in sport you reflect upon your career and what you went through as a player and a teammate.
