NHL veteran Mike Richards is being investigated for allegedly possessing a restricted substance while attempting to cross the Canada-U.S. border.
A source tells the Winnipeg Sun that Manitoba RCMP are investigating, but have not laid charges, after a man was held in custody at the Emerson, Man., border crossing for at least four hours after trying to bring OxyContin pills across on June 17.
Emerson is about 90 kilometres south of Winnipeg.
The Los Angeles Kings, who'd been trying to trade Richards, got word of the investigation during the first round of the NHL draft on Friday.
