The former chief executive of the Salt Lake City-based multilevel marketing company Max International has been sentenced to a year in prison for tax evasion and ordered to pay nearly $355,000 in restitution.
Peter Nordberg, 62, a resident of Alameda, Calif., who formerly lived in Draper, was sentenced Wednesday by U.S. District Judge Dee Benson. He had pleaded guilty in September to the tax evasion charge.
According to court documents, Nordberg — who was CEO from 2007 to 2011 of Max International, which produces and markets nutritional supplements directly and through independent distributors — earned a salary and bonuses equal to a percentage of company sales.
