INDIANAPOLIS – He’s looking at me from 1962. Staring at me, staring into me, his legs folded together as he sits with the rest of the first truly great basketball team in Butler history, the 1962 bunch that became the school’s first team in the NCAA tournament.

He’s smiling, but just barely. He’s bald. Is that important? I don’t know. I don’t know who he is.

Pictures cover the walls inside Hinkle Fieldhouse. There’s Roosevelt Jones beating Gonzaga at the buzzer in 2013. Look how young Barry Collier was. Look how young Brad Stevens is.
