Butler fired a second-round 307 to overcome Monday's deficit and win the Don Benbow Invitational at the Jacksonville Beach Golf Club in Florida. Four Bulldogs shot in the 70s Tuesday, highlighted by Christine Cates, whose 73 pushed her into a playoff for the individual title.
Evansville's Kayle Katterhenry topped Cates on the extra hole to capture the individual title. Both Cates and Katterhenry carded two-day totals of 150. Cates's 73 tied for the best score of the day.
Valparaiso entered Tuesday with the tournament lead, but the Bulldogs improved their team score by 17 shots to top Evansville by two shots (631 to 633) for the team title.
