Butler notebook: Oregon point guard considers Bulldogs

Butler’s search continues for an additional point guard.

Casey Benson, a 6-3 point guard who helped Oregon reach the Final Four, is to visit Butler on Thursday. As a graduate transfer, he would be immediately eligible.

Benson, of Tempe, Ariz., is to visit Wisconsin on Wednesday and Grand Canyon on Friday. The Bulldogs will have difficulty luring him away from Grand Canyon, a Phoenix university where his brother, T.J., is an assistant coach.

The left-handed Benson averaged 4.9 points and 1.9 assists in 20.9 minutes per game this season. His playing time diminished after a freshman, Payton Pritchard, became the starter.
